The Zoological Park of Jaipur was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1868. It was then open to the public in 1877. The intent behind the establishment of a zoo was to conserve and protect the wildlife, including mammals, birds, and reptiles. Their achievements include several breeding programs for crocodiles, cheetals and gharials.

omnivores: The omnivorous population consists of monkeys, black bears, Himalayan bears, wild boars and baboons.
birds: The aviaries of the zoological park consist of exotic birds such as chattering trucks, peacocks, white peacocks, emus, vultures, pelicans, ducks, parakeets, geese, storks (both white and painted), cockatoos, pheasants, parrots, swans and several others. The park also observes the existence of numerous migratory birds during the winter, such as pink flamingos.
reptiles: Besides the gharials (an endangered species of crocodile), the Jaipur Zoological Park is home to many other reptiles. In another section there are gharials, tortoises, tortoises, Indian pythons and one Eunectes notaeus (Yellow Anaconda).

In summer it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m..

The park is open from Wednesday to Monday and will be closed on Tuesday. You need about 2 to 3 hours to fully explore the entire zoo.
